Role Overview:

This role is suited to a Mechanical Engineer with a strong foundation in HVAC system design who enjoys being hands-on and involved throughout the full project lifecycle.

You will work closely with architects, consultants, and contractors from concept through construction and close-out, contributing to projects where performance, coordination, and attention to detail are key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HVAC systems across a range of building projects

  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations

  • Size and select mechanical equipment

  • Develop ductwork and hydronic system layouts

  • Produce construction drawings and documentation in Revit and AutoCAD

  • Coordinate with architects and multidisciplinary teams

  • Review submittals and respond to RFIs

  • Participate in site visits and support construction phases

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 3-7 years of HVAC design experience within an MEP consulting environment

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

  • Experience with load calculation tools (HAP, Trace, or similar)

  • Strong understanding of ductwork and piping system design

  • Familiarity with applicable building codes (IMC / local codes)

  • EIT or working toward PE preferred

Preferred Background

  • Experience with high-performance HVAC systems (VRF, chilled water, geothermal)

  • Exposure to architect-led or design-focused projects

  • Experience supporting construction administration or commissioning

  • Background in residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects
